Former education minister and BJP leader S Suresh Kumar has written to the recently appointed school education minister Madhu Bangarappa, seeking an explanation on the lecturer’s behaviour.
Expressing his concern in the letter, Kumar said the lecturer made the statement on social media on the same day when the entire country was celebrating the successful launch of Chandrayaan-3. He questioned how someone with such views could effectively motivate the students.
Is this the end of free speech as we know it? Not the India I grew up in, sarcasm and humour, and simply one’s point of view, even if it doesn’t match the views of the majority, if not respected, we will see a massive brain drain in India.
