In a sensational display of pace bowling, Mumbai Indians pacer Akash Madhwal stunned the cricketing world during the IPL 2023 Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants. The Roorkee-born 29-year-old uncapped player produced a stellar performance, registering the best bowling figures by an uncapped player in the history of the tournament.
Madhwal’s spell proved to be the downfall for Lucknow Super Giants as he single-handedly dismantled their batting lineup, taking five wickets for five runs in just 3.3 overs. His impact was immediate as he dismissed Prerak Mankad for just three runs in the first over itself.
However, it was in his second over that Madhwal truly stole the limelight. During the tenth over of Mumbai Indians, he struck back to back by dismissing Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran for one and zero runs respectively. These quick dismissals sent shockwaves through the Lucknow Super Giants camp, leaving their mentor Gautam Gambhir astonished.
