In a horrific act that has sent shockwaves across the nation, a video of two women being paraded naked on the streets in Manipur is going viral on the internet. As per reports, the shameful incident took place on May 4 following a clash between the valley-dominated Meitei and the hill-majority Kuki tribe.
After the video went viral on Twitter, people were quick to react on the lack of action from the authority and the delay shown in informing the public about it. Strong reactions from Twitter users are building up pressure on the authorities to take swift action against the culprits.
One user tweeted, “An incident of shame to humanity has come to light, before we bow our heads, the government should take strict action against these accused,” while another user wrote, “Enough is enough! “We can’t take it anymore.”
This is beyond humanity. Such an act which is a disgrace and shame to our society, nation and our culture cannot be ignored.
Raise your voice against this intolerable act.

After the video went viral, an NDTV report claimed that the incident took place about two months ago. After knowing this, people have many questions regarding the incident as they wonder why it took so long for the authorities to take cognizance of the matter.

our people in #Manipur Have gone through unspeakable horrors and this video is proof of it.
I have a questions:
● If this video is from 4th May, then why has the government not taken action against the culprits?
● Was the government more worried than burying this video…

Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally broke his silence on the incident and said, “The incident in Manipur is heinous and extremely shameful. What happened to the daughters of Manipur can never be forgiven. The law with all its might will take one step after another. I assure the countrymen that not a single culprit will be spared.” Check out the tweet below.

The mock incident has not only made a woman naked but has also exposed humanity.
Whenever there is talk of respect for women in the country, then the country and the society have to pay a long price for it in the form of Mahabharata.#manipurviolence #shameful#cookie pic.twitter.com/LBIRPCWw1f
