Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar has revealed that it was a very emotional moment for him when he got an autograph on his shirt from skipper MS Dhoni during Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) last IPL 2023 league match at Chepauk on Sunday. If CSK qualifies for the playoffs, of course he will get a chance to play here. But I decided to make that moment special. I was fortunate that someone in the camera unit had a marker pen. That’s why I am thankful to that person too.
The 73-year-old Gavaskar also appreciated Dhoni’s gesture and also lauded the CSK skipper for his legacy in Indian cricket. “So, I went to Mahi and requested her to sign the shirt that I was wearing. It was very nice of him to admit it. It was a very emotional moment for me as this fellow has made a huge contribution to Indian cricket.
An emotional Gavaskar also revealed what are the two most special cricketing moments that he will cherish for the rest of his life. The former India captain said, “Kapil Dev lifting the 1983 World Cup trophy and MS Dhoni hitting the winning six in the 2011 World Cup final are two cricketing moments I would love to see before I die.”
