The official trailer for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One released yesterday, and it’s filled with scenes of Tom Cruise performing daring stunts. While it was a treat for fans of the franchise and action movie lovers, a section of netizens were convinced that some of the shots were copied from Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathan. The train-set sequence in particular is being compared to the scene in Pathan which stars Shah Rukh Khan as well as Salman Khan.
Netizens point to similar shots in Mission Impossible 7 and Pathan
Some Twitter users shared screenshots to show similarities between Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Pathan’s trailer. The scene in which Tom Cruise is seen hanging from a cliff, and the train accident scene reminded fans of Pathan. A Twitter user wrote, “”A few days ago, I saw the whole of Twitter making fun of the #Pathan train scene because of it’s mistaken resemblance with Jackie Chan’s cartoon. But now that #MissionImpossible also has similar action sequences, so no one will say anything,” while another shared a screenshot of similar scenes in the two films and wrote, “Bollywood should be proud.”
Meanwhile, a user on Reddit shared a post on the page BollyBlindsNGossip, and wrote, “Very similar shots in Pathan and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. But no one will troll MI for this. However, on Reddit, several other users had conflicting opinions. Commenting on it, a user wrote, “The train falling on people from the top of the bridge was not invented by Tom Cruise or SRK.. It’s an old stunt or action sequence..” Another user commented, “I’m sorry what?! I thought Pathan was an Indian copy of all the Mission Impossible movies? The entire train sequence is a scene-to-scene makeover of Jackie Chan animation.”
Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer Pathan releases in theaters on January 25, 2023. The film went on to become a blockbuster and broke several records at the box-office.
