Social media giant TikTok has announced a feature launch that aims to unseat Twitter (recently renamed X) as the text-based social media platform.
Just 20 days after Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta launched Threads to rival X, TikTok joins the race by allowing TikTokers to create and post text-based content. New Speciality It aims to provide a platform for users to showcase their creativity on comments and captions.
While creating a new post on TikTok, users can choose between photo, video and text. Unlike Threads and X, TikTok allows more customization of text posts, allowing TikTokers to include features such as location and music.
Other features are stickers, tags and hashtags, background colors, and saving drafts to “make your text-based content stand out,” according to TikTok.

Threads recently imposed rate limits to block crypto and spam bots.

“Spam attacks have spiked, so we have to get tougher on things like rate capping, which means limiting active people more unintentionally (false positives). If you get caught in those defenses let us know,” Instagram Head of Public Relations Adam Mosseri told .
