Gas-powered generators, go ahead.
If you regularly look at the Sun then a solar generator is the way forward. They allow you to capture and store free energy coming from the sun, convert it into electricity, and store it in a battery.
A solar generator consists of two parts: a portable power station (think power bank but bigger) and solar panels. Power stations come in all shapes and sizes, from small boxes that you’ll be happy to carry a short distance, to large boxes on wheels that you won’t want to take very far with you.

Jackery, a familiar name in the power station game for over a decade, has a new power station named explorer 2000 plus, and this thing is a complete game changer. You can scale this up from a single unit suitable for a day or two of camping to an array of batteries and solar panels that can power your home for two weeks.
You read that right: two weeks,

Comment, I’m reviewing the UK version of the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus, which has different power outlets and input and output voltages, but is otherwise equivalent to the US version.
elder.
But you may have noticed that something is sitting on top of my Explorer 2000 Plus. This is an add-on PackPlus E2000 Plus battery pack that adds an additional 2042.8 Wh of power storage capacity to the system.
This is even bigger!

4000 not enough for you? You can connect up to five PackPlus E2000 Plus battery packs to an Explorer 2000 Plus to give you 12,000 Wh of storage.
A Packplus E2000 Plus weighs 41.9 pounds (19 kg), so the two units combined weigh over 100 pounds (46.9 kg).
Still not done? No problem!
You can link two Explorer 2000 Plus units together, each connected to five PackPlus E2000 Plus battery packs, giving you 24,000 Wh of power storage capacity—enough to power the average home for two weeks, according to Jackery.
it will setup will cost you $22,500But nothing compares to the power and flexibility it provides.

OK, let’s turn back and look at the Explorer 2000 Plus.
Compared to many power stations, it is a fairly streamlined unit. The front houses a compact display, a few buttons, and a few outlets.

To help with moving the power station, there are comfortable handles on the side, a retractable suitcase-style handle, and wheels.
Yes, wheels. The retractable handle and wheels make moving the Power Station a bit of a sweat, especially if using extra batteries.

If you have an add-on battery, a cable is used to connect the two units together.

There are a few things I look for when testing a power station.
First, the input, output, and rated capacity must match with the published specifications (see list of specifications above).
The Explorer 2000 Plus passed all my tests with flying colors.

The power outlets had no problem supporting a 3,000W continuous load and even a 6,000W surge. If you can push the power station beyond that, the Explorer 2000 Plus gracefully powers down and waits for your load to subside.
Under heavy load, there are fans that turn on to keep everything cool (which also run while charging the unit), but these fans are quiet—only about 30dB, or about how loud the library is—and the Explorer 1500 Pro can handle a 3,000W continuous load without difficulty.
This is a very well designed unit.
The USB and 12V outputs also meet specifications. The 100W USB-C ports are especially useful for those of us who can charge and power our laptops from power stations.

2,000 Wh capacity is huge. It can charge your iPhone over 80 times, or run a mini fridge for over 12 hours. It will also power a portable air conditioner for a few hours or a heavy-duty welder for 40 minutes.
There is a lot of power in this.
And that’s just Explorer 2000 Plus. A PackPlus E2000 Plus battery pack doubles it.

As far as recharging goes, the unit takes two hours to charge when connected to AC or six 200W SolarSaga solar panels, seven hours from two 200W SolarSaga solar panels, or 25 hours from a 12V car adapter.
I also like to test durability, and so far the unit has been tossed in the back of a truck, hauled to various locations, and dropped a bit more than once with no ill effects.
This is a really strong product.

Another thing I like to test is longevity.
There is nothing better than taking it out into the woods and depending on it for several weeks. I haven’t been able to do that yet, but I’ve been using the Explorer 2000 Plus as much as possible, and have put about a dozen charge cycles through it, and so far it’s running well and I haven’t had any problems.
Everything is well built and sturdy, it needs to be, and it delivers what it promises without relying on excessive, overstated specifications.
The Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus is a solid, expandable portable power station. If you are looking for a power station for home use or for your outdoor adventures, this is an excellent choice that will give you years of use. (And if problems arise with your unit, you can fall back on Jackery’s excellent warranty.)
