The successful film won the actor much acclaim apart from the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. However, during a podcast with Cyrus, Bhiku Mahtre revealed that this was not what he was originally cast for. The actor claims that Ram Gopal Varma assured him of the lead role of Satya in the film. But then Ramu called Manoj and dropped the bomb. The director said that he needed her to play the second lead. The actor revealed that he was heartbroken and felt cheated. Manoj then says that Ramu consoles him saying that he needs a person with a great personality who can kill Bhiku Mhatre in front of the camera. Looking back, Ramu was not wrong. it was?
