Sony getting ready for follow-up to hit animated film Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse. The sequel will explore the world of Miles as he accepts the role of Spider-Man. While the MCU has already saturated the superhero genre, Sony still has a lot to live up to. Who is Miles Morales?

The first film revealed that Miles received his powers from a radioactive spider after being bitten in the subway. He shares his powers with heroes from a comic book who have a similar power. In the first film, Miles meets Peter Parker from 616 and learns about the multiverse. Instead of learning about the power on your own. Miles has Peter to teach him, the two then meet the other Spider-Mans as they come together and fight an evil King-Pin.
Sequel Will Include More Spider-Man
The teaser revealed that in addition to those introduced for the first time, the sequel will introduce Miles to Spiderman’s elite team, which is expected to join. However, as the teaser suggests Miles is also expected to leave his world behind to become protector of the multiverse, or Spiderverse in this case. With powers including Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, we will also see Spiderman from India and many more all coming from different universes.
Conflict?
Miles would most likely have an existential crisis after seeing all the Spidermen around him and choosing between his life and his need to be a savior. The trailer also hinted that Miles would possibly have to fight other Spider-people alongside Gwen and Parker.

Trilogy and spin-off set-up
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has already led to a planned sequel titled Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. According to reports, the film has the potential for an MCU crossover or a collaboration with Venom/Morbius and others. The film is expected to feature an animated film focusing on Steinfeld’s Gwen, Rey’s Spider-Woman and Silk, another Spider-themed protagonist. Sony is also reportedly working on an animated series titled Lord & Miles, but not much is known about the project.
Sony reportedly has a decade-long plan for the Into the Spider-Verse franchise.
