Ray Stevenson, the popular actor best known for his performances in the recent blockbuster RRR and the famous Thor film series, has passed away. According to the publicist of the talented actor, the 58-year-old passed away in Italy on Sunday, May 21, 4 days before his 59th birthday. The reasons for Ray Stevenson’s untimely death have not yet been disclosed. According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the actor was hospitalized on the island of Ischia during the shooting of the upcoming film Casiono on Ischia.

The talented actor earned extremely positive reviews for his performance in the 2022 Indian film RRR, which is helmed by renowned director SS Rajamouli. The Oscar award-winning film marked his debut in Indian cinema. Ray Stevenson played the role of the main antagonist, the racist and ruthless Governor Scott Buxton, in the project, which starred Telugu superstars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in lead roles.
The makers of RRR, who are in deep shock over the sudden demise of the film’s main antagonist, took to the official social media handle and paid their respects to Ray Stevenson with a touching post. Team RRR’s Twitter post read, “What shocking news for all of us in the team! Rest in peace, Ray Stevenson. You will always be in our hearts, Sir Scott.”

Ray Stevenson’s acting career
Born in Northern Ireland on May 25, 1964, Ray Stevenson began his acting career by appearing in several TV shows in the 1990s. The veteran actor made his film debut in 1998 with the British film The Theory of Flight. He began playing lead roles in Hollywood films in the early 2000s and played his first significant role in the film King Arthur, released in 2004.
The actor gained immense popularity for his performance as army officer Titus Pullo in the HBO drama series Rome, which aired from 2005–07. Later, he played the role of Frank Castle in the Marvel project Punisher: The War Zone released in 2008. Ray Stevenson appeared in the 2011 film Thor and its sequel Thor Ragnarok as Volstagg, a member of Asgard and friend of the titular character Thor. One of her last projects is the upcoming Star Wars series Ashoka, which stars her as the main antagonist.
