- Minerva Public School, representing the North India region, emerged as the winner among 10 participating CISCE schools from across India and abroad.
The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) organized a three-day National Pre-Subroto Cup football tournament for U14 boys at Maharaja College Ground and Chavara School Ground in Cochin, Kerala. Held from 10th to 13th July 2023, the tournament witnessed stiff competition among talented young footballers representing various regions. The winner, Minerva Public School, will represent CISCE in the upcoming 62nd Subroto Cup International Football Tournament to be held in September 2023.
10 schools from different regions across India participated in the tournament. Minerva Public School, representing the North India Zone, emerged as the champions of the CISCE National Pre-Subroto Cup Football Tournament. He displayed his extraordinary skill and dedication to secure his place in the prestigious 62nd Subroto Cup International Football Tournament. Hiranandani Foundation School, representing the Maharashtra and Goa region, put up a commendable performance and emerged as the runner-up of the tournament.
As a token of recognition of their dedication and efforts, all the participants, coaches and managers received a CISCE bag. The winner, Minerva Public School received a cash prize of Rs.50,000/- while the runner-up, Hiranandani Foundation School received a cash prize of Rs.25,000/- along with a medal and trophy.
Former Indian international footballer Mr. CV Papachan and MLA from Ernakulam Mr. TJ Vinod were present as guests of honor at the inaugural function held on 10th July. Had the honor of hosting former Indian football coach Mr. Sativan Balan as the guest of honor at the closing ceremony held on 13th July. Mr. Arijit Basu, Deputy Secretary, Finance and Mr. Arnav Kumar Shaw, Sports and Games Manager, were present on behalf of CISCE to witness the event and extend their support to the young footballers.

This tournament not only hones their skills but also inculcates the values of teamwork, discipline and determination in them.
