A video of a dystopian horror show has gone viral in which two women are seen being paraded naked on the streets of Manipur by men. The clip gained popularity on the internet and the nation has been shaken after the heinous crime was committed in broad daylight amid rising tension and violence in Manipur.
Whenever such an appalling situation has arisen in India, Bollywood celebrities have shown a lack of responsibility towards raising their voice and using their platform to speak against it. However, this time, several popular celebs took to their Twitter handles to react to the horrific act that unfolded in Manipur almost two months ago.

Akshay Kumar took to his Twitter handle to react to the ‘shameful’ act which has left him ‘disgusted’. He tweeted, “Shocked, disheartened to see the video of violence against women in Manipur. I hope that the culprits get such a severe punishment that no one thinks of doing such a heinous act again.
Is there no one to stop the atrocities in Manipur? If you are not shaken to your core by that disturbing video of the two women, is it even right to call ourselves human, Indian or Indian what so ever!

On the other hand, singer Chinmayi Sripada questioned the silence of politicians and PM Modi on the viral video. “Not a word, not a speech or tweet or statement from the Prime Minister. “Nothing from NCW.” Urfi Javed also wrote on her Instagram, “What happened in Manipur was shameful not only for Manipur but for the whole of India.”

According to a report by NDTV, the incident took place on May 4. In Manipur, there have been clashes between the valley-majority Meitei and the hill-majority Kuki tribes, and several incidents of violence. Amid mounting pressure after the video went viral, a senior official told the outlet, “We have identified those people and will arrest them soon.” Netizens are now hoping for justice for the victims.
