The recently concluded final of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 saw Pakistan A’s crucial win against India A, prompting messages of praise and appreciation from prominent figures in the Pakistani cricket fraternity. From skipper Babar Azam to legendary fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, several celebrities shared their special messages for the victorious team.
However, the match was not without controversy. The dismissal of India A’s Sai Sudarshan on an ‘apparent no ball’ sparked a huge debate and further fueled the already intense rivalry between the two cricket legends. After Pakistan A’s victory, some ardent Pakistani fans took to Twitter to criticize former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan. After Virat Kohli-led India’s thrilling win over Babar and his team in the T20 World Cup last year, Irfan had tweeted a taunt on Pakistan. As soon as Pakistan A clinched the Emerging Teams Asia Cup title, fans couldn’t help but remind Irfan about his viral tweet.
Responding to the trolling, Irfan Pathan hit back strongly on Twitter, deftly dodging the barbs thrown at him by internet warriors. His witty repartee instantly became the talk of the town among cricket lovers and garnered over 14,000 likes on the platform. Many fans extended their support to Irrfan, appreciating his quick wit and graceful handling of the laugh-out-loud jokes.
Still haven’t forgotten a Sunday tweet. How good are you? #Neighbour
