Members of Crypto Twitter quickly identified and warned others against the scam being perpetrated by the compromised account of Uniswap founder Hayden Adams.
“Web3 Security Alert” Channel on Telegram notified Followers said on July 20 that Adams’ Twitter account had been compromised. The account of Uniswap’s founder and CEO issued a tweet to its more than 254,000 followers that falsely claimed that the platform’s Permit2 contract was “affected by an unknown exploit” and that users’ tokens were at risk, prompting them to click on a malicious link. encouraged to do so.
The first scam tweet was only live for a few minutes before it was deleted, but several nearly identical tweets were posted as well. At the time of publication, many were still viewable to Twitter users. Web3 Security Alerts reported that Adams was also blocked from accounts with Metamask and Coinbase Wallet.
