FSSAI has also reiterated that only online annual returns submitted through FoSCoS will be accepted.
Meanwhile, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has welcomed the move saying that this step will help traders.
Shankar Thakkar, state general secretary of CAIT Maharashtra, has said that the extension of the date will provide relief to traders from the fear of losing the FSSAI license, as the license will be canceled if the annual return is pending. And as a result, the old FSSAI licensed packaging would have been wasted.
“Therefore, we had sought from the food regulator to extend the date for filing of annual returns,” Thakkar said.
It is pertinent to note that food manufacturers, repackers, re-labellers, packers and producers will have to file annual returns to FSSAI through D1 form by May 31, 2023.
According to CAIT, many traders could not file annual returns and appealed to FSSAI for extension.
Subsequently, FSSAI extended the dates till June 30 for the financial year 2022-23.
