The past few weeks have been busy for iPhone updates, with the iOS 16.6 update coming less than two weeks after the release of the iOS 16.5.1(c) Rapid Security Response update, which came days after iOS 16.5.1(a) was pulled because it broke the Safari browser when visiting websites like Facebook, Instagram, and Zoom.
Alongside iOS 16.6 for iPhone, iPadOS 16.6 for iPad, iOS 15.7.8 for iPad, and iPadOS 15.7.8 for older devices that can’t run iOS 16 have been released, a flurry of updates have been rolled out for tvOS, WatchOS, and various flavors of macOS.
Even with automatic iOS updates enabled, it may still take a few days for updates to install. My advice is to take responsibility for the process and install iOS 16.6 manually. To do this, tap Adjustment Then General > Software Update. Then tap Download and install To initiate the update and keep your iPhone secure.
