New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday gave appointment letters to over 71,000 people at a ‘job fair’, saying the possibility of corruption and nepotism has been eliminated with the changes brought in by his government in the recruitment system. From applying for government jobs to declaration of results, the entire process has been made online, he elaborated on the employment opportunities and infrastructure development by the BJP government at the Center in the last nine years.
PM Modi said, ‘The apprehension of corruption and nepotism in the recruitment of government jobs has now ended.’
The PM cited his recent meetings with CEOs of major global companies, including Walmart, Apple, Foxconn and Cisco, to say there is “unprecedented positivity” about industry and investment in the country. Citing the EPFO net payroll data, the Prime Minister said that over 4.5 crore people have got jobs since 2018-19 as formal employment is on the rise.
FDI and the country’s record exports are creating job opportunities in every corner of India, he said, adding that the nature of jobs is also changing and his government is continuously supporting emerging sectors.
The country has seen a revolution in the start-up sector and their number has grown from a few hundred to nearly one lakh before 2014, the year the BJP came to power at the Centre, he said, adding that he estimated At least 10 lakh jobs.
Citing development figures in the last one year, PM Modi said the length of rural roads has increased from 4 lakh km to 7.25 lakh km, while the number of airports has increased from 74 to nearly 150.
PM Modi said that construction of more than 4 crore pucca houses for the poor under the government housing scheme has also created a lot of employment opportunities. He also said that the number of universities has increased from about 720 in 2014 to 1,100, while there are now 700 medical colleges as against 400 earlier.
