New Delhi: Reacting to the results of the Karnataka assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Sunday said that the Congress alone has given an alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Karnataka election result ‘a boost’ for MVA: Maharashtra NCP chief
State NCP chief Jayant Patil on Sunday said the BJP’s humiliating defeat in Karnataka is a boost for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, which will put up a united challenge to the ruling party in the 2024 polls by taking smaller parties together.
Speaking to reporters after attending the MVA meeting at NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s residence in Mumbai, Patil said the MVA – comprising Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP and Congress – will work out a seat-sharing formula ahead of the Lok Sabha. Patil said, “Like in Karnataka, I am sure the MVA will win the confidence of the people in Maharashtra and work with more vigour.”
He said the MVA leaders have decided to hold talks with other smaller parties and are looking forward to present a united opposition to the current dispensation in the country in 2024.
“The three constituents of the MVA will meet and work out the seat-sharing formula ahead of the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly polls. We are making a steady and slow start,” Patil said.
