Greenwich Health has implemented Cleo Systems’ integrated urgent care solution, Cleo Core UTC, for use at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich to manage the flow of patients to its Urgent Treatment Centre.
Through the new system, Greenwich Health will be able to receive bookings from NHS 111, manage waiting rooms and medical triage, and refer patients seeking help.
Over the next few months the system will also be integrated with NHS Pathways’ digital ‘front door’ kiosk-based streaming and redirection solution. As a result, patients coming to the center can use a digital triage tool to assess their symptoms before being seen by a physician. This will help ensure that they appear quickly and in the correct setting.
David James, CEO of Greenwich Health, said: “We did our due diligence in selecting Cleo Systems as our provider, as well as looking at a number of other products. The Clio was an obvious choice from our point of view. Along with being reasonably priced, the functionality and usability particularly impressed our physicians.
“Our UTC and GP heads were impressed with how intuitive and easy to use the Clio is and, naturally, the robust security measures that are in place are really important to us. Being able to view GP records within Cleo is vital, making access to patient information easy.
“The team at Cleo Systems has been very agile and responsive to change requests within the solution to suit our patient flow, and we look forward to this level of flexibility and interoperability to aid our growth going forward.”
The interoperability of the solution means that patients who initially arrive at the center but who need to be redirected to the emergency department can easily be transferred. Patients will no longer need to explain their symptoms to more than one physician, increasing their experience and speeding up care.
Emma Dew, Head of Customer Experience and Marketing, Cleo Systems, said: “Working with the Greenwich Health team for our first London-based UTC Go-Live has been both collaborative and efficient, taking systems from contract award to go-live in just a few weeks.
“The team at Greenwich Health shares our ‘patient first’ ethos and it has been great to be an extended part of their team while they launch their brand new UTC service with such passion and commitment to patient care.”
When Greenwich Health ran a competitive tender for an urgent treatment center from the Healthier Greenwich Partnership, the deployment of Cleo Core UTC formed part of the winning submission. The solution has previously been deployed in Blackpool and Morecambe Clinical Assessment Service (CAS).
