China’s Foreign Minister Qin Gang has not been seen for more than three weeks. He was last seen in public on 25 June holding talks with Russia, Vietnam and Sri Lanka. Qin Gang was supposed to meet EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell on July 4, but China canceled the talks a few days earlier. This has fueled not only speculation but concern, and highlighted the opaque nature of the Chinese Communist Party. Dr Lim Tai Wei, Adjunct Senior Research Fellow, East Asian Institute, NUS tells Arnold and Andrea about the impact of his absence.
