According to a news report, Karan Johar is turning his Student of the Year film franchise into a web series. The third instalment, Student Of The Year 3 (SOTY 3) will also mark the OTT debut of Shanaya Kapoor. Shanaya Kapoor’s debut film will not be from Karan Johar’s Bedhadak; Instead, he will be launched with Mohanlal’s pan-India film Vrishabh. Shanaya has previously worked as an assistant director on Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl starring cousin Janhvi Kapoor. On the other hand, his change in acting has been discussed in recent years.
According to a report, Karan Johar is adapting the Student of the Year film franchise into a web series in association with an OTT. According to the report, the project is currently in the writing stage and is expected to start construction in the fourth quarter of this year. Along with Shanaya, the show is expected to introduce some new faces, and the casting is reportedly underway. More details about the story of the show are awaited, but according to sources cited in the report, the series is in full swing at Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital content arm of Dharma. The series director is expected to be finalized within a month.

Rumors of Shanaya’s Bollywood debut have been doing the rounds for the last two years. Initially, the star kid was to make her acting debut in Karan Johar’s Bedhadak alongside Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Peerzada. However, the film directed by Shashank Khaitan was reportedly shelved due to script issues. Shanaya will make her acting debut with veteran Malayalam actor Mohanlal’s upcoming film Vrishabh.
Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra debuted in 2012 with Karan Johar’s high-school drama, Student Of The Year. (SOTY). Seven years later, with Student of the Year 2, the film was turned into a franchise (SOTY 2).
