Greater Noida, May 18 (IANS) | A 22-year-old student of a prestigious university on Thursday allegedly shot dead his female classmate. The incident took place around 2 pm at Shiv Nadar University located on NH-91 near Dadri in Uttar Pradesh. The two, identified as Anuj and Neha, were pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and were in their third year. The woman was a resident of Kanpur while the accused was a resident of Amroha.
Police said: “The two were last seen together near the canteen between 1:30 to 2 pm. They were engaged in conversation and even hugged each other. While leaving, the youth suddenly pulled out a pistol and The girl was shot dead. Later he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head at the boys’ hostel.”

Police said, “The entire incident took place inside the college campus. The boy and the girl were close friends for quite some time. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had shot his friend. The police added.
